Jabez: Conceived In Pain, Delivered In Victory

Jabez and his men intercept the Philistine merchants, preventing them from entering the land of Judah. The merchants respond to the blockade with a gesture of friendship. When they receive Jabez's answer, the Philistines try to break the blockade. What do the merchants offer Jabez and why does he refuse their gesture?
