In Chapter 7:26-42, groups of Jews mention the Christ, the Messiah, six times. Some understood that the Hebrew scriptures spoke of the Messiah who was to come. Mic 5:2-4 The Messiah in the Old Testament is a BIG BIG subject. The Messiah, the Christ, is central to the mission of the gospel of John. Joh 20:30-31 The subject of the Christ appears in chapters 1, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, and 12. Joh 4:39-42 John the Baptist emphasized that he was NOT the Messiah. Joh 3:28 Jesus told the Samaritan woman that He was the promised Messiah.
