She Cast

SHE CASTers explore the high school selective enrollment process within Chicago Public Schools. Like many city school systems, Chicago Public Schools has schools you can attend based on neighborhood, and schools you are accepted to based on merit. The selective enrollment schools can be highly competitive, can cause immense stress in the 8th graders applying, but may be one of the few ways Chicago works to correct an inequitable school system.
