Simple Church

As we conclude our series "Which Do You Want First?", we are faced with a story that poses a question each one of us has to grapple with at some point. "What do I have to do to inherit eternal life?". Jesus answers the man's question with all the things he had already done. Once the rich man was satisfied, Jesus addresses the real issue. This man's heart belonged to his money and, in order to fully surrender to God's wil,l he had to surrender his wealth.  In our lives, whatever owns our adoration, affection and heart is what Christ calls us to leave at His feet. We can not carry our cross and walk in the light of Jesus if our hands and heart are full of what we put before Him. The call of Christ is full surrender in exchange for a life beyond what we can see here.
