When I was 8, I received a gift of Hebrew music and learned all the words sung in this ancient tongue, by heart. At 13, in Israel, a wise woman leader encouraged me to sing. This healed my humiliation of having my mouth washed out with soap when I’d express my truth, even when it contradicted what others thought was best for me. I learned to follow my inner voice.
