    The fifth part in the series ‘From the Cradle to the Grave’ is published on Fatemidawat.com this week. In this 18 minute sabaq video, Shz Taher bhaisaheb focuses on the responsibility of parents in the education (tarbiyat) of their children and the importance of teaching them the ‘ilm of Aale Mohammed. For that, teaching our language, Dawat-ni-Zaban, is vital. Shz. Taher bhaisaheb begins by reciting the numerous ayats in the Qur’an which highlight the importance of knowledge. He then quotes Rasulullah SA Hadith: ‘to seek knowledge is an obligation on every Muslim man and every Muslim woman’ and thekalaam of Amirul Muminen SA: ‘knowledge is the best inheritance’.     We are pleased to present the fourth part in the series ‘From the Cradle to the Grave’. In this 16 minute sabaq video, Shz Taher bhaisaheb focuses on the responsibility of parents in the education (tarbiyat) of their children. He states that in the Rasail of Ikhwanus Safa, a human’s life is divided into four stages, just as we have four seasons and four eids. The four stages are: childhood, young age, middle age, and old age. In the first stage, childhood, the responsibility of the parents is to raise their children with love and compassion and to inculcate good values (adab). In this sabaq, Taher bhaisaheb refers to many sayings by Rasulullah SA, Amirul Mumineen SA and Aimmat Tahereen SA. Amirul Mumineen SA identified the responsibilities of a child towards his parents and the responsibilities of the parents to the child.     We are pleased to present the third part in the series ‘From the Cradle to the Grave’. In this 21 minute video, Shz Taher bhaisaheb begins by stressing the importance of aqal – intellect – in the understanding of Shari’at. The focus of this part is on the birth of a Mumin’s child and the hidayat of our Mawali Tahereen about the birth of a child. Shz. Taher bhaisaheb stresses the importance of offering thanks to Allah Ta’ala for the blessing of a child and the erroneous views of those who are saddened when a girl is born. He said that Rasulullah SA has said that it is indeed a blessingthat one’s first child is a girl (min yumnil-mar’i an yakuna bikruha jaariyatan). Shz. Taher bhaisaheb then discusses the significance and different aspects of Naming (chatti), Male Circumcision (khitanat), Talisman (Tawiz), Aqeeqa and breast-feeding (rada’at).

    The first sabaq (Part 1) in this series is an introduction to the series. In the 12 min video Shz. Taher bhaisaheb begins by discussing what it means to be a Muslim and a Mumin and purpose of our being in this world. He quotes the ayat from the Qur’an: “And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play” (Surat al-Dukhaan: 38). Syedna al-Mu’ayyad asks the question, “did Allah Ta’ala create the heavens and earth, did He create such a brilliant being with such a tremendous intellect, all of this so that you may live your lives as cattle and sheep? No, the wisdom of the Wise and all-knowing Creator in creating you will not go unfulfilled.” Indeed, there is a greater purpose in creation. In another ayat, the Qur’an proclaims “And I did not create the jinn and mankind except that they may worship Me” (Surat al-Zaariyaat: 56).
