  • The LORD's Anointed.

    31/10/2021 Duração: 01h03min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, October 31, 2021 The LORD's Anointed Joh 1:35-41 The Messiah, the Christ, is central to the mission of the gospel of John. The word Messiah comes from the Hebrew word for "anointed": mashiyach (maw-shee'-akh) The Greek word "christos" is the exact equivalent of mashiyach. In the NAS, "mashiyach" is translated "Messiah" in just one passage. Dan 9:24-26 "mashiyach" a person who has been chosen by the Lord for a special office. The word "mashiyach" was used for two offices: High Priest , and King. It referred most often to the King of Judah or Israel. 1Sa 24:4-6 David was the greatest... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1472

  • We have found the Messiah.

    24/10/2021 Duração: 01h06min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, October 24, 2021 We have found the Messiah Joh 7:25-42 The Gospel of John refers to the Messiah, the Christ, in many places. In Chapter 7:26-42, groups of Jews mention the Christ, the Messiah, six times. Some understood that the Hebrew scriptures spoke of the Messiah who was to come. Mic 5:2-4 The Messiah in the Old Testament is a BIG BIG subject. The Messiah, the Christ, is central to the mission of the gospel of John. Joh 20:30-31 The subject of the Christ appears in chapters 1, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, and 12. Joh 4:39-42 John the Baptist emphasized that he was NOT the Messiah. Joh 3:28 Jesus told the Samaritan woman that He was the promised Messiah. Joh 4:25-26 During the Feast of Dedication, He told the Jews in the Temple the same... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1470

  • When the Christ comes.

    17/10/2021 Duração: 01h08min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, October 17, 2021 When the Christ comes Joh 7:25-31 When He first began to teach, they challenged His authority. Could He be the Messiah? The first group is skeptical about Him. The second group is indignant at Him. The third group ends up believing in Him. But it is people from Jerusalem, as opposed to Jews in Galilee or the diaspora. They may also have recalled Jesus's earlier miracles in Jerusalem. These Jerusalemites were confused. They were REALLY surprised that the rulers didn't stop Him from speaking. Their beliefs about the Messiah came from their traditions, not the Scriptures. They THOUGHT they knew. After all, He came from Galilee; everyone knew that. But they didn't know the one thing about His origins that really... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1468

  • Judge with righteous judgment

    10/10/2021 Duração: 01h05min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, October 10, 2021 Judge with righteous judgment Joh 7:16-24 Verse 17 states a general principle. Starting in verse 19, Jesus makes a specific application to His audience. Joh 5:45-47 Joh 7:19 Exhibit 1: they sought to murder an innocent Man - Jesus. Joh 5:5-18 They accused Him of being a law breaker, yet they actually broke the law themselves. Joh 7:20-24 This one deed was healing the man who had been paralyzed for 38 years. They were astonished, but they reacted very unfavorably. The Lord established a covenant with Abraham, the first Hebrew. Circumcision became the sign of this covenant. Gen 17:6-12 Later on, when the LORD gave the Law to Moses, He included circumcision. Lev 12:1-3 The male child had to be circumcised on the... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1465

  • Jesus went up to the temple to teach

    03/10/2021 Duração: 01h13min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, October 3, 2021 Jesus went up to the temple to teach. Joh 7:10-18 The crowds of Jews, from Judea, Galilee, and elsewhere, are of two minds about Him. His Father has sent Him - to teach. They could not dispute His command of the scriptures, and they knew He had not studied under any of their prominent rabbis. Their manner of teaching was to cite this authority, that rabbi, and so forth. His teaching was not His own. He didn't invent it. Joh 3:31-35 His authority, quite simply, was God Himself! How can we know that You are telling the truth? Joh 7:17-18 There is only one sure way to know whether His teaching is from God. Only one. You have to be willing to do God's will. To enable us to do His will. Psa 40:6-8 When all that is in... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1464

  • The world hates Me.

    19/09/2021

Apologies, there is no recording this week due to technical issues. "The world hates Me" Joh 7:1-9 1 After these things Jesus was walking in Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him. 2 Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was near. 3 Therefore His brothers said to Him, "Leave here and go into Judea, so that Your disciples also may see Your works which You are doing. 4 For no one does anything in secret when he himself seeks to be known publicly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world." 5 For not even His brothers were believing in Him. 6 So Jesus said to them, "My time is not yet here, but your time is always opportune. 7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it, that its deeds are evil. 8 Go up to the feast yourselves; I do not go up to this feast... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1461

  • Now the Feast of Booths was near

    12/09/2021 Duração: 01h13min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, September 12, 2021 Now the Feast of Booths was near Joh 7:1-13 In chapter 7, the scene shifts from Galilee to Jerusalem. The Galilean ministry of Jesus continued after the events of chapter 6. John didn't record it. It can be found in Mat 14:34 - 18:35. Joh 6:4-5 Joh 7:2 Passover was a spring feast. 14th day of Nisan (the 1st month of the Hebrew year); our March-April Booths was a fall feast. the 15th -22nd days of Tishri (the 7th month of the Hebrew year); our Sept -Oct 6 Hebrew (lunar) months between the Passover and the Feast of Booths. This feast of Tabernacles was the most joyous feast of the year for the Jews. Feast of Booths (Sukkot): people lived in makeshift booths of branches and leaves. Lev 23:33-44 This feast looked back to their... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1459

  • You have words of eternal life

    05/09/2021 Duração: 01h12min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, September 5, 2021 You have words of eternal life Joh 6:60-71 The words of Christ separate people. They divide people into two camps. How do they respond to Christ's words? They could not accept that Jesus was who He said He was. The words of Jesus bring each person to the fork in the road of their heart. Joh 3:18 In one camp live the ones who have believed in Christ. They have eternal life. In the other camp exist the ones who do not believe in Christ. They have no life in themselves, and remain under the wrath of God. There is no third camp. Joh 6:60-62 Before it was the religious Jews. Now His own disciples are grumbling. Being a disciple is not the same thing as being a believer. It's certainly not the same thing as being a member of the... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1457

  • He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood

    29/08/2021 Duração: 21min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, August 29, 2021 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood Joh 6:49-59 The Catholic church teaches that when the priest consecrates the host and the cup, the bread and the wine become the actual body and blood of Christ. That is not what this passage is talking about. Jesus mentions heaven 9 times from verse 31 through verse 58. Joh 3:11-13 I have been sent to you from My Father in heaven. I am God, like My Father, yet I am also flesh and blood, like you. I have been sent to give up my life so that you can live. Really live. It's maddening. Joh 5:37-38 Maybe, once you are beside yourself, you'll finally be able to see Me clearly! Stop your deadly fixation on things which are below. Joh 8:23-24 Joh 6:51-52 1Co... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1455

  • Facing unbelief

    22/08/2021 Duração: 01h01min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, August 22, 2021 Facing unbelief Joh 6:41-51 Jesus gave these people the most remarkable, joyful good news! He repeats Himself over and over, because His words are rejected over and over. There is this unnatural, unrelenting hostility toward everything Jesus says. I found no indication that anyone in that audience believed in Him after hearing it!! They hate Him without a cause. When we preach the good news of Christ, we also meet up with unnatural resistance. But often it's like talking to a wall. Grace abounding to the chief of sinners. Chapter 8: Agonizing over the severity of his sin "Thus I went on for many weeks, sometimes comforted and sometimes tormented; "This Scripture did also most sweetly visit my soul, 'And him that cometh into me, I... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1453

  • I will raise him up on the last day

    15/08/2021 Duração: 01h01min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, August 15, 2021 "I will raise him up on the last day" Joh 6:35-44 But there's a terrible problem. He who believes in Jesus will never thirst... ...but they do not believe in Him! They do not believe that He is the bread of life that came down out of heaven. Joh 1:9-13 There will be people who will believe in Him. Indeed, some already had. And not from among Jews only. Gentiles also. Joh 10:16 Jesus is not discouraged. He places His confidence in the will of His Father, not the will of fleshly men. Joh 6:37-40 It's remarkable how Jesus paints everything in the colors of His Father's will. It has a remarkable subject: the final salvation of believers! It's remarkable how forcefully Jesus... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1451

  • I am the bread of life

    08/08/2021

Pastor John Farley August 8th, 2021 NOTE: Apologies, no audio or video for this service. "I am the bread of life" Joh 6:30-35 30 So they said to Him, "What then do You do for a sign, so that we may see, and believe You? What work do You perform? 31 "Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, 'HE GAVE THEM BREAD OUT OF HEAVEN TO EAT.'" 32 Jesus then said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven. 33 "For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world." 34 Then they said to Him, "Lord, always give us this bread." 35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1449

  • The food which endures to eternal life.

    01/08/2021 Duração: 01h09min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, August 1, 2021 The food which endures to eternal life Joh 6:22-29 Jesus will now give an extended discourse to the people and leaders in Capernaum. The failure of the people to understand the meaning behind the miracle of feeding the 5,000 men. That Jesus is the bread of life, who gives His life for the life of the world. Whoever believes in Him ("eats this bread") receives eternal life. From physical bread To heavenly bread To bread for eternal life To Christ as the bread of life To the offering of the flesh of Jesus for the life of the world To the eating of His flesh and the drinking of His blood All the while confronting the people with the challenge to believe in Him, even as He ratchets up the audacity and scandal of his... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1447

  • It is I; do not be afraid

    25/07/2021 Duração: 01h05min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, July 25, 2021 "It is I; do not be afraid." Joh 6:14-21 Chapter 6 follows the same sequence that chapter 5 did: miracles (Joh 6:1-25), followed by controversial teaching (Joh 6:26-58). #1: Jesus feeds the 5,000 men with five barley loaves and two fish. This miracle confirmed that Jesus was the Messiah - the Christ. The second miraculous episode in chapter 6: Jesus walks on the sea. This miracle demonstrated that Jesus was the Son of the Living God. Three gospels record this miracle of Jesus walking on the sea. This miracle is also recorded in Mat 14:22-31 and Mark 6:45-56. Mark records two miracles on the sea that night. Mar 6:51-52 and Matthew adds a third one : Mat 14:28-33 Joh 6:14-15 They meant the prophet that Moses... for full notes: http://www.lbible.org/index.php?proc=msg&sf=vw&tid=1445

  • The Scriptures testify about Me.

    11/07/2021 Duração: 01h11min

John Farley Pastor Teacher Sunday, July 11, 2021 The Scriptures testify about Me Joh 5:39-47 1. God the Father (verses 32, 34, & 37-38) 2. John the Baptist (verses 33 -35) 3. The works of Jesus (verse 36) 4. The words of Jesus (verse 47) 5. The Scriptures, particularly the writings of Moses (verses 39, & 45-47) The central issue in verses 39-47 is the willful unbelief of the Jewish leaders. In verses 39 & 40, Jesus describes that unbelief. In verses 41-44, Jesus explains the reason why they will not believe. In verses 45-47, Jesus presents the results of their unbelief. Joh 5:44 Joh 5:47 We can't. We won't. Joh 5:39-40 Why are you searching the Scriptures? Do you believe what they say?
