  • (Fr. Bryan)11/08/15 Those in Need of a Savior

    09/11/2015 Duração: 08min

Homily from the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time. Jesus takes notice of those who give everything they have to him, because these people reveal their need for a Savior. All are welcome to hold onto their possessions, but Jesus was not sent to save the self-sufficient. He was sent to redeem the lowly, the afflicted, the brokenhearted, and the humble. Our lives need to reflect our need for a Savior.

  • (Fr. Bryan)11/01/15 The Heart of Sanctity

    02/11/2015 Duração: 13min

Homily from the Solemnity of All Saints. Jesus gives us a "blue print" for how to become a saint by teaching us to live out the Beatitudes. We can look to the saints who have gone before us and see how they carried out the Beatitudes in their lives. Of course, this looked different for each saint, and rightfully so. However, at the base of their holiness, we can find the same Beatitude: Blessed are the Clean of Heart. Their hearts were set on serving the Lord before anyone else. Their hearts desired to be pure before the Lord, always living lives of integrity and selflessness. Our hearts need to be the same if we want to become saints. When our hearts are clean, we will see clearly how to live out the other Beatitudes.

  • (Fr. Bryan)10/25/15 We Must Be Blind Beggars

    25/10/2015 Duração: 15min

Homily from the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our culture wants us to present ourselves as though we have everything put together. Jesus is not interested in those who have everything put together, because they have no need of a Savior. He came to save those who are the most needy. We need to acknowledge our own neediness before the Lord.

  • (Fr. Bryan)10/18/15 On Whose Authority?

    19/10/2015 Duração: 14min

Homily from the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time. So many of the "great ones" in our society speak and act as though they are experts in every area of life, when they really have no authority beyond their one area of expertise. Jesus actually has authority in every area of life, since he's God incarnate. We need to let him be the ultimate authority in our lives, and that starts by growing in our knowledge of his words and commands.

  • (Fr. Bryan)10/11/15 Sharper than any Two-Edged Sword

    12/10/2015 Duração: 10min

Homily from the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Jesus often calls us to be radical in our discipleship, yet it's fairly often that we don't want to be radical. We go to prayer with a closed heart, not willing to change for the sake of Christ. If only we could see how he looks upon us with a piercing look of love, then we would be most willing to do anything he invites us to do.

  • (Fr. Bryan)10/04/15 Back to the Ideal

    05/10/2015 Duração: 15min

Homily from the 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Jesus always invites us to go back to the way of life God originally intended for his people. Unfortunately, this is always a very hard way to live and it involves a lot of work to get there. The good news, though, is that it is possible with the grace of God to aid us. When we pursue the ideal, we pursue the cross, which always leads to eternal life with God.

  • (Fr. Bryan)09/27/15 Protect Your Salvation

    28/09/2015 Duração: 11min

Homily from the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time. We all gain a heavenly inheritance when we're baptized as disciples of Jesus Christ. There is one thing that can steal our inheritance away from us, and that is sin. Jesus knows this, of course, so he uses some pretty striking language about what we're to do with sin. As we become more aware of its power to steal our salvation, why wouldn't we do everything in our power to cut it out of our lives?

  • (Fr. Bryan)09/20/15 The Problem with Comparing

    21/09/2015 Duração: 11min

Homily from the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time The apostles always had something to say to Jesus, except when they started comparing themselves to each other to see who was the greatest. When their focus shifted from Jesus to themselves they had nothing left to say to the Son of God. We easily fall into the same temptations. All too often we compare ourselves to other people, especially in the spiritual life. Yet when we compare we lose focus of the particular call the Lord has given to each of us.

  • (Fr. Bryan)09/13/15 Imitate the Suffering Servant

    14/09/2015 Duração: 14min

Homily from the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Jesus, our King, came to restore his people by suffering for us and serving us. He placed all his trust in the Father and would not allow worldly influences to penetrate that trust. He knew his duty and fulfilled it to the max. He told his disciples to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow him (Mk 8:34) along the way to Calvary and into eternal life. Most often, taking up our cross is nothing more than fulfilling the daily duties the Lord has given us by way of everyday life.

  • (Fr. Bryan)09/06/15 Go Beyond the Legend

    08/09/2015 Duração: 13min

23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Some people live legendary lives, but far more often than not the legend doesn't live up to its billing. Sometimes the legend turns out to be completely wrong, and sometimes the legend doesn't even approach the reality of a person's greatness. It's far too easy in today's world to merely know the legend of Jesus without knowing Jesus. Those who have encountered Jesus will certainly say the legend pales in comparison to the Savior.
