If you’re not savvy, or a millennial, Prog can be exemplified in bands like Yes, Tears For Fears, Genesis, and Muse. Yeah, Muse. Some people characterize it as non-mainstream, super long songs, and experimental in design. By that definition, you can also add bands like Coheed and Cambria, The Mars Volta, and Tool, which many do.
