Six albums and 36 band members down the line, BJ Barham and American Aquarium have arrived at their 7th release, ‘Things Change.’ The album is an apt reflection of the changes Barham has made in his life to get to this point: Sobriety, starting a family and a new lineup for the band. But there’s been on constant the whole time, Barham’s no-nonsense songwriting that has always resonated and are a staple of their Carolina Americana. We caught up with Barham in San Francisco to talk about the new record, the influence of Jeff Tweedy and the life changes that were necessary for the longevity of the project.
